In general, it is recommended for students to get academic advising at the start of their studies, even if this is not specifically required in their study and examination regulations. This can help students be more prepared for the process ahead. Depending on the major-specific study and examination regulations (SPO only in German!) academic advising session may be mandatory for some students and they will be issued a certificate after successful participation.
