Following the decision of the executive committee of the FU, it is now possible for BA students to complete an internship in the context of organized Refugee relief.

Such internships may be completed for 5, 10, or 15 credit points (120, 240 or 360 hours, respectively) at the Department of History and Cultural Studies.

The Career Service of the FU gives all students the possibility to learn more about researching, finding and applying for internships as well as general career orientation or internships abroad.

Students must complete an internship as part of the GPS program. This can be an occupational internship (in Germany or abroad) or an extended internship abroad. The individual length of these internships and the corresponding credit points can be taken from the following list:

Internships in Germany and abroad

>> 120 hours   5 credits  3 weeks

>> 240 hours  10 credits  6 weeks

>> 360 hours  15 credits  9 weeks

Extended internships abroad

>> 480 hours  20 credits  12 weeks

>> 630 hours  25 credits  16 weeks

>> 780 hours  30 credits  20 weeks

The internship-module in its entirety is processed by the Career Service of the FU (colloquium, report, attestation, declaration of worked hours).

In case your employer requires a certificate of the mandatory nature of these internships, the GPS-Coordinator Mr. Schulze can issue one for you. When Mr. Schulze is not available, the certificate can be issued by your individual GPS Officer.

It is necessary to appear in person in order to obtain such a certificate, because a signature is needed to complete the document.

Attention! Consider the subject proximity of your internships!

We would like to remind students at the Department of History and Cultural Studies that mandatory internships for your respective subjects may not be spent in the fields of gastronomy (service, etc.) or sales. You can ask your GPS Officer for further information concerning the subject proximity of your prospective internship before it begins.
