Dear new students of Interdisciplinary Studies of the Middle East,

Welcome to Freie Universität Berlin!

We would like to invite all new students to our orientation days and introductory events.


Wednesday, October 14, 6 pm (online!): New at Freie Universität Berlin, with an introduction to the Campus Management System (in English)

Monday, October 19, 10 am (online!): Opening session of the central introductory event, recommended also for master's students who are transferring to Freie Universität Berlin, with an introduction to the Campus Management System (in German)

Monday, October 19, 12 pm, exclusive information for degree-seeking students (online!)

Tuesday, October 20, 10 am – 1 pm (online!): Introductory event of the central orientation days for international students at Freie Universität Berlin, including an introduction to the Campus Management System (in German and English)

Monday, October 26, 2 pm (online!): Introduction to the master's program Interdisciplinary Studies of the Middle East (in English)

Thursday, October 29, 2 pm (online!): Introduction to the Department of History and Cultural Studies (in German, for students in bachelor's and master's degree programs)

Friday, October 30, 10 am: Campus Tours; meeting at the Rost- und Silberlaube (in German and English)


Important information for participating in the online event

You can simply log in using the relevant weblink above. Freie Universität Berlin uses the Webex video conference system from Cisco. It is not necessary to install any software. The Webex Meet app is recommended for mobile devices. To ask questions, you need a microphone on your end device (smartphone, tablet, notebook, PC).

You can join the event from 5 minutes before the specified time. The respective event password is Start2020. The list of participants is visible to everyone, so real names are not necessary and not recommended. But please refrain from choosing offensive or derogatory names. A Cisco program can optionally be installed. Participation can also only take place via the browser.

  • The use of the camera is neither necessary nor possible.
  • The microphone can be activated by the host of the event if there is a question asked by a digital hand signal.
  • Questions and comments can also be asked in the Q&A area.
  • When using the browser, cookies should be deleted after the video chat has ended. If there are logins or session-specific links, these may not be passed on.
