Henrique Cintra Santos is a postdoctoral researcher at the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institute, working on the DEFAM project led by Dr. Jana Tschurenev and funded by the European Research Council. He earned his BA (Hons.) in Literature and Linguistics from the State University of Campinas, Brazil, in 2015, followed by a Master's in Applied Linguistics in 2018, where he investigated the transnationalization of queer "Ballroom" culture in Latin America. In 2024, he completed his Ph.D. in Global History at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, with a dissertation on the global connections of queer movements during the Cold War, focusing on Brazil and the former GDR. His research interests include global gender history, queer theory, and Cold War studies.

As part of the DEFAM project, my research explores global transformations in gender and family within contemporary history. I focus on the role of supranational organizations, such as the UN Commission on the Status of Women, and analyze global trends and debates surrounding parental rights and child welfare.
