The TAP – Togolok Archaeological Project (southern Turkmenistan) is a third-party project funded by the DFG and implemented at the Institut für Vorderasiatische Archäologie of the Freie Universität in Berlin. The focus is on the study of the site of Togolok 1, located in the alluvial fan of the Murghab River and dated from the 3rd to the 2nd millennium BCE, and on its relations with the external regions interested in the cultural phenomenon of Greater Khorasan Civilization (GKC). To this end, all data from ongoing excavations will be analyzed and organized within a GIS territorial system and related databases.

Job description
Support to the field research project at the site of Togolok 1, Turkmenistan (Director: Dr. Barbara Cerasetti). Possible tasks include preparation and follow-up of excavation campaigns, organizational tasks during excavation campaigns, preparation of excavation and ceramic material documentation (e. g. scanning and editing drawings/photos, re-drawing of drawings, data entry/maintenance of excavation ceramic material databases).

Desirable:
1. Study of Near/Middle Eastern Studies, with a possible focus on Central Asian Archaeology
2. Knowledge of drawing/image processing software; GIS/Remote Sensing software
3. Experience in using databases
4. Experience in field research
5. Excellent knowledge of the English language and, if possible, knowledge of the
Russian/Turkmen language
6. Ability to work in a team
