We are looking for several student employees for the excavation and research project in Tell Saq / Al-Ula, Saudi Arabia, in the Orient Department of the German Archaeological Institute
(Students of archeology or excavation technology) for on-site research work that will take place in autumn 2024 and spring 2025, as well as from the next possible date for processing at the Berlin location. Participation in excavations and participation in the reprocessing in Berlin can be linked.
Areas of responsibility:
• Participation in the archaeological excavation and documentation on site in the period late September - early December 2024 or February - April 2025 (shorter participation may be possible)
• Database entry or photographic or graphic documentation of artifacts
• Participation in conservation tasks (cleaning, packaging)
• Participation in English-language reporting on site
• Participation in the processing in Berlin (database, research data management, science administration)
requirements
• Enrollment at a university or college (BA or MA degree); In order to participate in the processing in Berlin, a residence in Berlin is required
• Reliability, ability to work in a team, flexibility
• Good to very good language skills in English
Requested
• Excavation experience and basic knowledge of the objectives and methodology of interdisciplinary archaeological research
• Interest in acquiring basic knowledge of the Arabic language
