Dear all members of the Department of History and Cultural Studies,

On behalf of our students Calum Houston, Hend Shaheen, and Alexander Hong, we warmly invite you to an inspiring event they have organized. Join us on Monday, February 12, 2024, from 4 to 6 PM (Berlin time) for a hybrid panel discussion titled ‘Reclaiming Identities – Cultural Resilience Amidst Disappearances (Lebanon and Iraq as Case Studies ... Syria as a True Story!)'.

This student-led initiative, part of our ongoing lecture series in the master’s program Interdisciplinary Studies of the Middle East (ISME) – with sessions from your and our esteemed colleagues from Arabic Studies, Iranian Studies, Islamic Studies, Jewish Studies, Ottoman Studies, Semitic Studies –, features esteemed panelists:

• Dani Nassif, Project Coordinator and Researcher at Universität Regensburg
• Ramzi Merhej, Trainer in Dialogue Support at Berghof Foundation
• Wafa Mostafa, Syrian Activist and Non-Resident Fellow at the Tahrir Institute of Middle East Policy (TIMEP)

Together, they will explore themes related to cultural resilience in Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria. We are proud to present this event as hybrid, which is facilitated by funding for the students in the framework of the Netzwerk Hybride Lehre project. im Namen unserer ISME-Studierenden Calum Houston, Hend Shaheen und Alexander Hong laden wir Sie herzlich am Montag, den 12. Gemeinsam werden sie sich mit Themen der kulturellen Resilienz im Libanon und im Irak und in Syrien auseinandersetzen. Wir freuen uns, diese Veranstaltung hybrid präsentieren zu können, die durch die Förderung der Studierenden im Rahmen des Projekts Netzwerk Hybride Lehre ermöglicht wird.
