Global History
Visiting Scholar (October 2024 - September 2025)
I am a currently PhD student at Central China Normal University, focusing on the development of Sino-German relations between 1978 and 1990 from a global and transnational history perspective. My research aims to move beyond national boundaries and examine the deeper forces shaping the relationship between China and Germany during this period.
In 2022, I completed my master’s thesis titled “The Continuation and Change of Vocational Education in the Federal Republic of Germany during the Brandt Government,” for which I was awarded a Master’s degree in History. Earlier, in 2019, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in History with a thesis titled “Intellectual Journeys: The Dissemination and Impact of Hegel’s Philosophy of History in Modern China.”
My research interests primarily include Sino-German relations, international relations history, German vocational education, knowledge dissemination, and economic history. For my doctoral research, I will focus on the foreign policy relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and China in a transnational historical context, from 1978 to 1990. This project will rely heavily on original German diplomatic archives, making the rich academic resources at the Friedrich-Meinecke-Institut of Freie Universität Berlin indispensable. Under the framework of global history, this research will investigate the driving forces, trends, and impacts of the shifts in Sino-German relations, laying a foundation for further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
