Carey Park is a Research Professor at the Research Center for the Arts of Hongik University. She has previously worked at the Department of Intangible Cultural Heritage Studies of the Korea National University of Cultural Heritage as a visiting professor. She has also worked at EWHA Womans University Museum as a curator. She has been annually curating art exhibitions include <GAESEONG INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX>(Culture Station Seoul 284, 2018), <the Warm Table>(Artspace Boan 1942. Seoul, 2017).
She holds PhD from Department of Art Histroy at EWHA Womans University. The title of her dissertation is “study on the twentieth century Korean painters’ viewpoints on tradition”. This dissertation was selected as “Outstanding Dissertation” from EWHA Womans University. She is the author of Modernity and Tradition: Era of Chaos, Creative Identity Exhibited by the Artists, (Hyean, Seoul, 2014) which won “Distinguished Scholarly Book Award” from The National Academy of Sciences, Republic of Korea.
Her work in the field of North Korean Art includes “Modification in Icons and Forms in the North Korea Art with Policy Change”(Art in North Korea, Its Past and Present, National Research Institute of Cultural Heritage, 2016), “Baekdu Mountain: The Invention of Tradition and the emblems”(Korean Bulletin of Art History, The Korean Society of Art History, 2011).
