Master of Arts (MA) in Ancient Near Eastern History and Culture
The MA program in Ancient Near Eastern History and Culture can be combined with the philological-historical program in Ancient Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations as well as Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology. This MA degree is conceptualized as an integrated and research-oriented degree leading to a second qualifying university degree (Ph.D.). Prerequisites are a Bachelor degree in Ancient Studies (“Altertumswissenschaften”) with a major in Ancient Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations, or an equivalent university degree that included coursework in ancient Near Eastern Studies equaling the major in Ancient Near Eastern Studies. The goal of this program is to train students for professions in cultural studies and at teaching institutions. Depending on student performance a further qualification (Ph.D.) may be obtained.
