General professional skills (ABV)
The ABV courses comprise a mandatory professional internship (e.g. in a museum, at an excavation, etc.) and six skill areas: foreign languages, information and media skills, gender and diversity awareness, organization and management, ommunication skills and subject-related additional qualifications. The purpose of these courses is to provide students with additional professional practice and knowledge, such as:
- Language courses (English is required for Egyptology. French is also very important and classical foreign languages are useful.)
- IT-related courses (e.g. statistics for archeology)
- Courses that teach additional aspects relevant to Ancient Studies, such as microscopy for archeologists, archeozoology, etc.
