Dear all,
The Institute of Iranian Studies invites to The Persian Calligraphy Workshop
Wednesday, 04. December 2024, 16:00-18:00, Fabeckstr. 23-25, Room 1.2051
Calligraphy is a highly refined form of art that after Arabic was used in a number of other languages, including New Persian, Kurdish, Pashto, Urdu, Baluchi and Malay, to name a few. As a living tradition, calligraphy was frequently employed to embellish the interiors of palaces, buildings, coins, etc. Under the instruction of the esteemed calligrapher Hafez Rafei, participants in the workshop will have the opportunity to gain a basic understanding of the characteristics of both the nastaʿlīq and the šekasteh nastaʿlīq styles. Workshop is free to students and staff.
