The summer school is held at the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin in cooperation with the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities (Corpus Coranicum) and the Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation (London).

Where: Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin, Unter den Linden 8, 10117 Berlin-Mitte

The workshop will cover the following topics: Islamic bookbinding and its techniques, function and ornamentation; Papers of the Islamic world; Re-use of manuscripts in bindings; Material analysis of Islamic manuscripts; Conservational practices, etc. Many lectures will be supplemented by hands-on sessions.
