"Chinese Heritage Language Education in Germany and in the USA: A Comparative Study"
The rise in immigration and the increasing recognition of globalization have sparked a need for extensive research on heritage language education. Immigrant families face additional hurdles when maintaining a heritage language that is both linguistically and culturally distinct from the dominant language of the host society. This study aims to tackle this crucial issue by conducting an international comparative analysis of Chinese heritage language education in the United States and Germany. Employing a mixed-method approach, the research seeks to identify the primary challenges encountered by Chinese immigrant families and the key factors contributing to the success of heritage language education. Similarities and differences between the two countries will be explored to gain a comprehensive understanding of the topic.
