The Korea Europe Center is glad to announce that former Minister Han-Koo Yeo will hold a special lecture at the institute of Korean Studies on 7 February 2023 at 3:00 pm with the title "Exploring Korea-EU/German Cooperation in the areas of Economic Security in a Changing World".
Abstract:
In this de-globalizing era of economic and geopolitical upheaval, Korea and the E.U., in particular, Germany share a lot in common. As industrial powerhouses with heavy dependence on energy imports, the two countries at the other far end of the Eurasia are facing pressing critical issues such as the tech decoupling along with G2 rivalry, the retreat of multilateral trading system and return of industrial policy, supply chain disruption from the Pandemic and the War in Ukraine, digitalization and the dilemma between energy security vs. energy transition. How to cope with the challenges and opportunities this era poses through enhanced cooperation between Korea and the E.U. and Germany will be the main theme of the forum.
Presenter: Han-Koo Yeo (Former Minister for Trade - Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Republic of Korea)
Yeo capped off almost three decades of public service as Trade Minister of the Republic of Korea in the final year of the Moon Jae-in presidency.
