Israel´s Secret Relations with States and Minorities in the Middle East, 1948-2022
Elie Podeh is Bamberger and Fuld Professor in the History of the Muslim Peoples in the Department of Islamic and Middle East Studies, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Main fields of interests: Egypt, inter-Arab relations; education and culture in the Middle East; the Arab-Israeli conflict; Israeli foreign policy; Israel in the Middle East. He served as the Head of department (2004-2009); and President of the Middle East and Islamic Studies Association of Israel (MEISAI, 2016-2021). He is Board Member of Mitvim – The Israeli Institute for Regional Foreign Policies. He has published and edited fourteen books and more than seventy academic articles in English, Hebrew and Arabic. His recent publications: Israel’s Secret Relations with States and Minorities in the Middle East (in Hebrew, 2022; to be published in English by Indiana University Press in 2023); Between Stability and Revolution: A Decade to the Arab Spring (edited with Onn Winckler, in Hebrew, 2021); Multiple Alterities: Views of Others in Middle Eastern Textbooks (edited with Samira Alayan, London: Palgrave/ Macmillan, 2018); and Chances for Peace: Missed Opportunities in the Arab-Israeli Conflict (Austin: University Press of Texas, 2016).
